Are People Like Palin & Beck to Blame for division in USA

It's time to tone down the rhetoric, and vitriol that has created such division within our Country. I agree somewhat, but it's a bit hard to do when News Radio show hosts IE: Rush Limbaugh for one is incapable of doing so. It's hard to 'tone it down,' when News commentators IE: Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Sarah Palin et al are using such rhetoric to scare and brainwash people.

When someone like Glenn Beck states on his show: "GLENN: Gang, this is the final warning. I mean it. This is the final warning. You cannot become -- you cannot get any clearer on what is coming. It amazes me day after day after day after day that America just doesn't seem to care anymore, but you cannot get any clearer. If this is out here and this man is elected, you are going to elect the most arrogant Marxist who will not be stopped because he came into office fully uncovered. Every -- do not pretend to be shocked when we begin to see a Marxist and who I believe will become a fascist President. And he will become fascist because he will not understand how you suddenly don't want to become Marxist. As he starts to change the Constitution, listen to what he said in 2001", And he has people (masses) who listen to this garbage; we wonder why a certain faction of our Society is not only scared but angry? Not only angry at President Obama, but at his supporters, because they feel we too support "Obama's Marxist agenda; which most of us KNOW the term "Marxist" is a lie. They are angry because Glenn Beck has stated on his show " that gov't under Nixon "wasn't as corrupt as it is now," Beck suggests Obama admin might kill "10 percent" of population. On his June 10 show, Beck warned that "anarchists, Marxists, communists, revolutionaries, Maoists" have to "eliminate 10 percent of the U.S. population" in order to "gain control." Again, lies to manipulate people.

What is the point I'm trying to make with few of many statements that Beck, Palin et al have uttered for the past two plus yrs- I'm of the opinion that they along with others like Michelle Bachmann who is a Representative of the US have spewed such horrid vitriol over time that it has caused much more division within our Country, along with hatred. The hate can not be dismissed or ignored. We cant sweep it under the carpet, because it has been implanted in peoples minds. It must be addressed, and furthermore; not tolerated! When people IE: Our Congressmen/women are receiving death threats, along with our President at what point do we take a stand and say NO MORE?!? Sarah Palin's vitriol may not be responsible for the mass shootings in Tuscon, Az, but her hate mongering, along with the above mentioned and others I didn't mention DO have an impact on peoples psyche. I will gladly admit I have shed tears- many over the past few years thanks to the lies and hate that has been rapidly increasing by means of key phrases used over and over that do have consequences.

The question is, how do we reverse the damage that has already been done? How does the Media along with our Politicians convince people who already believe our President et al are Marxists, commies etc... when it appears the damage has already been done? I don't have any answers. At this point I would love to say I think we can now engage in Kumbaya moments, but thats a pipe dream. So, what is the answer?  Do we bring back the fairness doctrine?  Do we demand Congress enacts new laws that prohibits lies, vitriol and fear mongering while stumping?  Would these laws apply to the Media as well as Politicians and / or anyone running for elected office? Just pondering, would love to hear your views.

In the mean time, I will continue to hope that there isn't a lone wolf or a group of 'militants' out there ready to begin a revolution with our "Tyrannical Government", since it has been implied (lies)  over and over again. These are serious issues we need to address, and it's sad that the shootings in Tuscon, Az- one of our own Congress Women, Gabrielle Giffords being the main target brought all of the past issues to the forefront.  Words can have consequences. Lets hope people will think before they speak since this has now become a national debate.  Politicians, those running for Office, and the Media have a duty to report facts, and keep it honest; remembering that words alone, can create a climate of hate.  It's time to act like adults and stop acting like bullies on a playground.

  2. Hello Lisa...Nice blog..I agree totally. This AZ horrific event has really opened up my eyes and much of the nation's too. We have a huge problem..The conservatives of this nation has some explaining to do. The Tea Baggers who want to divide and conquer better wake up and smell the liberal coffee. We don't want the hate anymore. We want our peaceful country back...And we want to stand up and spread the love again. Congresswoman Gifford will rise above this injury and come back to us smiling. AZ will learn a valuable lesson from this. With freedom comes responsibility. The government of AZ better make some changes and do it soon. Again, great blog my friend and I'm glad you are writing again.

  3. Hi Corrine,
I really hope that the Media along with others will set a new tone in this country. I highly doubt it with Fox News on the Scene. Some of them are still trying to make Palin appear as the victim when in reality she got people fired up in a very negative fashion. Thats why I documented just a few comments people like Palin and Beck stated; few of MANY. Palin is not responsible for the shooting but her words; their words are responsible for increased hate (on a major scale) in this country. And, I agree with what you wrote above. Thank you my friend for taking the time to read my blog!
